Welcome to Linthill Farm Steading, a family-owned venture nestled in the stunning Berwickshire countryside. This traditional Scottish steading, built in the early 1800s by the Hume family of Paxton House, was once part of the prestigious Ayton Castle Estate. It stands as a testament to Scotland's agricultural evolution, constructed during the transformative 'improvers' revolution.
Whilst we actively work towards our exciting vision: to create Scotland's first carbon-negative retreat. Our restoration efforts aim to preserve the steading's historical significance while integrating sustainable practices that align with and drive modern environmental standards.
Surrounded by highly productive farmland and featuring a large pond that serves as a sanctuary for local wildlife, Linthill offers a tranquil escape for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. Although the steading is no longer an active farm, having been outgrown by modern agricultural practices, it remains a vital link to our rich heritage.
As we embark on this journey of restoration, we invite you to join us in celebrating the enduring legacy of Linthill Farm Steading. Our commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious practices will create a retreat where visitors can reconnect with nature and enjoy the serene landscape.
Stay tuned for updates on our progress, and be part of our mission to honour the past while embracing a greener future. Linthill Farm Steading awaits your visit, where history, nature and sustainability converge to create an unforgettable experience.
